Bike ride, Rum Balls and explosion

 Wednesday
24.06.2015

Today Sam had a day off so she took us for a bike ride to show us the MSAC (Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre) and some other places. It was a very nice day, the sun was shining and it was not so windy.
The first stop was at a park called St. Kilda Botanical Gardens.
In the background you can see the man with the umbrella in the pond. It was cool!
Here can you read more about the "Rainman".
When the sun is shining, the rainman gets rain and when the sun is gone and the rainman stands in the shadow, it stops to rain on him.
We went inside a greenhouse where we found some interesting plants and fishes.

Woooow!
Uhm? What happened here?
Then we continued our ride to MSAC. We rode past this old theatre...
...and here is an old fun park. In the park there is a roller coaster where they use a handbrake to stop it.
Then we rode to Albert park and took some pictures by the lake with the big city in the background.

Then we went past the MSAC (unfortunately we did not take any pictures of it, but it was high-tech and huge).
We ate lunch at a nice restaurant with a great view of the bay (the beach was just behind us).
Maybe it does not look very good but it tasted well.
This is a picture from the way home.

After school there were lots coming up. Imagine a house full with seven kids, one parent and an exploded showerdoor = chaos. But most of it went okay.
This afternoon we tried out the traditional "Rum Balls", but with no rum. They look like "Chokladbollar" but does not taste the same.
We also need to tell you about these lovely yoghurt-muesli-bars! They are so yummy! This is what you eat between the meals here. They call it "snack". Snack can also be a sandwich or a muffin or something else.

Exercise, shopping and pumpkin soup...

Tuesday
23.06.2015

Today we woke up early because of school, 7.45 AM. When we had dropped Magnus and Freya off at school we drove to the local gym where we met Heidi, Sam's friend, and went for a run. We ran 9 km and then we went to the "Power Station" to do some core vile Sam and Heidi had PT with heavy weights.
Matilda does some stomach exercise...
... and Elin does the "Diagonal".
We worked really hard!
No pauses at all!

Then we went home for a quick shower and then we drove to Brighton to do some shopping. Living in Brighton is quite expensive and the people who do that have all nice cars, clothes etc.
We ate lunch at a nice restaurant. Here are our drinks.
Bircher Muesli with yoghurt, rhubarb and poched pear for Sam.
And we tried the pulled pork with bread and Asian salad. It was delicious!
Shopping queens!
Then we picked up the kids from school.

When we went home we tried Tim Tams which are a kind of chocolate biscuit. Yummy! We also prepared todays dinner, pumpkin soup.

Then Magnus had soccer and we enjoyed the playground.
Wuuuhu!
Upside down!
Weeheee!
Freya is surfing in the slide.
Then we went home and ate the pumpkin soup. We have not tried it before, but it tasted very good.

"Eat to exercise to stay healthy"-Sam Brown

Monday
22.06.2015

Monday again, that means school again. We woke up at 7.50 AM. Today it was hard to get up, but we did it. Sam drove Magnus and Freya to school and then she went to the gym, vile we went for a run in Hampton. It was quite windy today, that means it was cooler than last week. But the running warmed us up and when we came home we did some core (stomach, back, arms, knees and calves) exercise in the garden.
When Sam came home we went out for a walk past St. Leonard College to see it in the day light and also try to get a look of the school uniform. Then we walked down to Hampon Street and drank some hot chocolate on a café. After that we bought some ingredients to the dinner in the supermarket.

We picked up the children from school at 3.30 PM and went home to have a snack and to make some dinner.
Dinner tonight was "Räkpasta a'la Fredrik H". Not as good as home, but okay.
 :)
Freya made the dessert: ice cream in all flavours.

Chill Sunday

Sunday
21.06.2015

Today is it a week since we came here (okay, if we count the days). We woke up 8.30 AM to get ready to watch Magnus play soccer. Unfortunately they did not win today, but they played really well. After the match the team had a "Sausage Sizzle" and treasure hunt. We ate the sausages (made of lamb) and some cookies, before we went home.
Magnus (no.5) in red.
Freya is enjoying her cupcake from the "Sausage Sizzle".
Then we went home for some cleaning and Magnus went to visit friends.
After that we went for a walk. We walked past Magnus' and Freya's future school. Believe us, it was huge.
The school is called St Leonard College.
When we come home Sam went to work. Freya made this pretty art work...
..and we baked some "Kanelbullar".
Enjoy!!
Dinner today was a SPICY beef pie with vegetables.

Port Phillip Bay

Saturday
20.06.2015

Today we slept in in the morning. Sam went out with some parents from school yesterday, and it sounded like she had very fun there.
We ate breakfast at 10.30 and then we went for a driving trip with the car around the Port Phillip Bay. First we drove south to Sorrento (it took about 2 hours). There we stopped and did some sightseeing. We went inside some shops and took some nice pictures.
One of the beautiful pictures :-D
And another of our nice fabulous pictures :-P
We also bought some Vanilla Slices, which are typical for Australia so that we could try them. Sam also chose Vanilla Slice but Freya and Magnus chose cupcake and Magnus also bought a cup of jelly. But we saved them for later because it was...
...lunchtime. This is the restaurant where we ate lunch.
We ate "Bacon and Egg Roll".
And to drink we had "(Old style) Spiders". Matilda's is the green one (lime) and Elin's is the red one (raspberry). (Calm down, they are not poisoned!). They were nice.
Magnus and Sam ate "Creamy Pumpkin Soup" and like the Vanilla Slices is pumpkin common to eat here.
Haha! Tight Arse means that you are "snål" but if you look it up on Google Translate you get "snäva röv". It means that this small car is cheaper on Tuesdays. ;-D
Cute!!
Not as cute?? YES! We are actually famous here now. You know, the parents that Sam met yesterday asked when Sam talked about us "Oh, are those the pretty girls in white jackets?".
Trying to get the best angle. Gasses?
After we had been in Sorrento for some time, we took the very expensive (ca 700 Swedish Kronor for getting us five over with the car, 45 minutes) ferry to the other side of the Bay.

Sam, Magnus, Freya and Elin on top of the ferry. In the plastic bag we had the Vanilla Slices and Cup cakes and we ate them on the ferry for dessert. They were nice, but we liked the Caramel slices that we tried out the other day on Thomas Street better.
Freya is standing at the stern of the ferry.
Elin and Magnus played with their shadows (we know, Elin could be a great dancer).
After we had arrived to the other side of the Bay to Queenscliff we drove to Queenscliff South Pier and looked at the passage into the Bay. You need to be a specialist to drive the big ships in and out of the Bay, because the waves are crossing each other so there has been many ships going under there.

We stopped at one more beach, Barwon Heads (see the picture below) and then we drove home through Geelong and Melbourne. It gets dark around 5.30 PM and it is black already at 6 o'clock.

Today was a very funny day and the Bay is so much bigger than you first think.
