So what did we do today? Hmm..a lot of things. We, Sam, Elin and Matilda, caught the train to Melbourne city and had a really great day!! Sam had a day off today because she work at a hospital so she do shifts and works peculiar hours.
This is the Flinders Street Train Station
We took a map in the information house in front of the train station. The map showed us a good tourist walkway around the city centre. Above you can see one example of many of the graffiti art (Melbourne is a city of art) that we walked past.
Outside the Block Arcade
Two hundred years ago people made this by hand (Beautiful!!)
Have you ever thought about how these lollies are made? Well, we know :)
We went to a store "Suga" where they made the lollies. So first it was a great cylinder (20 cm in diameter and 40 cm long) and then they pulled it out and they could make probably more than 1000 of lollies.
Today they made lollies as an order for a company with the logo of the company.
This is art (if you can not see that :-P).
Actually it is the art centre of Melbourne.
The highest building on this picture is the Eureka Tower. It is the highest tower in Melbourne and one of the highest in Australia. It has 91 floors.
Some of the huge buildings
You can see the Eureka Tower in the background.
Elin and Sam are looking at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). The river is the Yarra River and it flows through the city.
We ate lunch at a small restaurant. It tasted very nice, toasts with ham and cheese and béchamel.
After lunch we walked and took the tram to St Kilda and then we walked to the train station towards Sandringham and picked up Magnus, Freya and Magnus' friend Charlotte at the school. We watched when they were practising dance and singing and Freya read some books for us.
Then Sam and Freya went to gymnastics and we made "Kanelbullar" together with Magnus and Charlotte.
Dinner today was thai-inspired chicken with noodles and vegetables. It tasted very good. Here in Australia the food culture is inspired by many countries: Thailand, China, Japan, Italy, France, Britain, Greece...
By the way, yesterday after we had already posted Magnus made this pretty swan out of an apple (Moa he is only 12, time to learn :-P //Matilda)
