Bendigo!

Saturday

We woke up at 8.40 and ate breakfast. Half past nine, all of us (Sam, Gareth, Freya, Matilda and Elin) took the car to pick up Magnus who had a sleep-over at a friend. Then we drove further to Woodend where we met Sam's parents for lunch.

(It was very cold there!) 

We ate ham and cheese toast with a hot chocolate.

 

After lunch, we said good bye to Sam and Gareth and drove with Gran and Poppy (Janie and Roger) to Bendigo, where they live.

We stopped at a lake called lake Eppalock and took some nice pictures.

When we came to their house, we settled in and then we drove to the supermarket.

There we bought some ingredients for the dinner. 

Well back again, we went for a walk and saw (wild) kangaroos.

We were really close to them.

For dinner, Janie showed us how to make "Sausage rolls". We made two different types of "Sausage rolls", some like the picture above and some like spirals.

 

After dinner we watched a movie and ate triple chocolate ice cream!

 

Sunday

05.07.2015

 

We woke up ten to eight and went out for a run. We ran through the area to get a closer look. But it was super cold! And Matilda had forgotten her running-jacket...

 

After the run we ate breakfast: sourdough bread with ham and scrambled eggs.

 

Then we went to the Bendigo Market where we met Sam's sister, Charmaine, and her family. We looked around at the market for an hour and then we ate hot donuts with jam. 

After that we drove to a small lake called lake Woorona. The lake is in the middle of Bendigo and we walked around it (2 km).

On the way home, we stopped at "Sacred Heart Cathedral" where Gareth and Samantha got married.

It is one of the biggest cathedrals in Australia.

When we came home, Magnus, Matilda and Elin did some cooking.

We made "kanelbullar" and peppermint slices.

After that, we went for a quick walk on our own and saw some more kangaroos.

To dinner we ate homemade pizza in their "pizzaoven".

Very quick and very tasty!

In the evening we watched "Despicable Me 2" and ate the triple chocolate ice cream.

 

Monday

06.07.2015

We slept to nine o'clock and made scramble eggs and toasties for breakfast before Roger took us to Gran and Pa (Bronwyn and Colin). There we tried white Tim Tam and drank tea.

 

Then we drove to Victoria's oldest pottery...

...where we made bowls of clay.

After lunch (ham, cheese and tomato toast) Colin showed us around in the centre of Bendigo.

This building is today a visitor info centre, but before it was a post office.

Dinner was lasagne with garlic bread and veggies and for dessert we had a chocolate mud cake with peppermint chocolate icing. One of Gareth's sisters, Lori, and her husband, Michael, joined us for the meal.

 

Tuesday

07.07.2015 

 

We woke up 09.20 AM and ate toasted sourdough bread with ham and cheese for breakfast.

Then Colin, Magnus, Matilda and Elin drove to Central Deborah Gold Mine.

We walked together with a guide 61 meters under ground.

It was very interesting and exiting to see and learn about how the miners have worked there. 

Well back on the surface, we tried to find our own gold.

Then we met Freya and Bronwyn at a café where we ate lunch. We ate Eggs Benedict.

After lunch, we went to Bendigo park and walked 124 stairsteps up a "Poppet head" and lokked at the view of Bendigo city.

There we saw some strange animals called Flying Foxes.

On the way to the car we walked past the new theatre. Before some parts of it was a prison. 

 When we came home, we and Colin went for a walk up to One Tree Hill's poppet head.

Here is the view from the poppet head. Bendigo is called "the city in the forest".

We had a beautiful sunset!

On the way back we also saw this cute Wallaby.

The dinner dose not look very nice on this photo, but it was a delicious "Lamb Dishes" that had cooked all day.

 

Wednesday

08.07.2015

 

 After waking up at 09.30 we tried "Crumpets" with honey for breakfast. They were very good!

Then we spend the day playing board games by some friends to Bronwyn and Colin. They had this Alpacas as pets.

For lunch we made homemade pizza. Here is Georgia and Magnus.

 

After lunch, Sam came there and we said good bye to Bronwyn and Colin and drove to Jaine and Roger again.

For dinner Charmaine and her children came over.

 

Thursday

09.07.2015

 

Today we went back home to Hampton again.

We stopped in Gisborne for lunch.

Hot chocolate!!!

Unfortunately there were problem in the kitchen so we had to wait 30 minutes for our food to come, and when it did, Elin's was burnt underneath. Because of that Elin had to wait another five minutes. But when we got our food (corn fritters with poached egg) it tasted good! Because of all trouble we got all money back.

For dessert we ate chocolate cake!

 

When we came home we went for a walk to the Supermarket and then we went for a run. 

 

For dinner we ate tacos.
